We’re on the move again heading in a westerly direction. We left Ohio on Friday and set up for two nights at the Bluffton/Fort Wayne South KOA Journey near Fort Wayne, Indiana. As is typical for us, we made plans on the fly. We made the campground reservations on the KOA app as we were driving. Then we began researching things to do in Fort Wayne. A Yelp! search for Fine Dining led is to make an online Saturday dinner reservation at BakerStreet Steakhouse and an internet search of “things to do fort wayne indiana ” led to the discovery that Beyond Van Gogh: The Immersive Experience is showing at the Expo Center so we quickly scored tickets online! That set the stage for a great day on Saturday. After a leisurely morning, a two mile brisk walk, and a lovely shower at our full hookups site, we dressed for an excursion to town. The Van Gogh experience was amazing. After a prelude of interpretive displays of Van Gogh art overlaid with text describing many aspects of the artist’s life, his philosophy, and excerpts from his correspondence, we entered the immersion room. All around us the walls and floor displayed constantly changing projections of Van Gogh’s vast body of work in a continuous thirty-seven minute loop. It’s a glorious display of his evolving artistic style and definitely displays a great appreciation of his Expressionism. We delighted in the unexpected movements while studying his myriad self portraits! We came away with an even greater appreciation for the man and his art. Then onto dinner. BakerStreet Steakhouse turned out to be a great place for a celebratory dinner. We think they have a special area for birthday dinners for we were aware of three other parties celebrating birthdays! Their Cheesecake Special was a delectable way to top off amazing lamb chop and ribeye dinners. A most memorable day!

Wicked The Musical

Wicked The Musical

Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens

London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

Caligula at Strawberry Hill

The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
