On our way to today's adventures, we stopped for refreshments at Cameron's British Pub in the community of Half Moon Bay. What a fun place! Collections of everything British everywhere inside and out. It's also the site of our very first geocaching find!

Pearl Cafe
Pulled into Mountain View and parked the rig. Did a little shopping then walked across to Pearl Cafe, a coffee, tea, and Hawaiian BBQ place. We shared a New Mexican Salad and the Kalua Pork with vegetables. Wow! How can you make pork taste this incredible?

Nuts in the Desert
We've been driving past orchard after orchard out here in the desert. Apparently this area is big for almonds and pistachios. The irrigation method seems to be a hybrid of drip and ditch. Wondering how many of the nuts we've nibbled have come from here.
And an Oil Field
Just passed an oil field that stretched as far as eye could see on both sides of the road!
Wasco Roses
Who knew that 55% of the roses grown in the country are grown in the California community of Wasco?
The Power of Irrigation
East of Bakersfield it's desert but there's a lot of agriculture. The contrast is stark. Arid on one side of the road, lush and green on the other. And 95 degrees at 10:30 AM.
California Highway 58
Traveling between Barstow and Bakersfield it's hot, flat, dry, and forbidding with mountains in the distance. We drove through the town of Boron, the home of the largest borax mine in the world and the Kramer Junction Solar Generation Facility. We've passed Twenty...
Mojave Sunset
This campground is situated alongside the highway and the desert stretches out behind. There's some intentional vegetation, shrubbery planted between the campsites that affords a little bit of precious shade. The temperatures will remain above a hundred until sometime...
