After a three night sojourn in Geneva State Park we hit US-20 eastbound fighting with the Maps app regarding whether we should travel interstate or US highway on our way to Westfield NY. Along we way we made a couple of stops. First at Steve's Auto Wash (no relation)...

National Coffee Day 2017
Who knew it was National Coffee Day? We didn't until we refueled and shopped for a couple of essential items at a Shell station where we were offered free coffee! Now it's on our calendar as an annual event so we can plan where to get the best coffee each year. So...
Hiding in the Woods
It's one of those times we just need to be alone with our thoughts. Geneva State Park is serving us well in that regard. It's mid-week and there are few fellow campers. The sites are spacious and nicely wooded. We've done the laundry, finally sifted through the mail...
Murals New and Old
East Fork State Park outside of Cincinnati was a great home for us for four nights. Close enough to meet up with some cousins, near a restaurant we love because they serve some great goetta, but quiet and peaceful. It's been quite a while since we stayed at this park...
Westward from Maine
Our Maine adventures have come to a halt. An early morning email alerted us of a need to head to Ohio to be with family for a while. The alpaca farm in Maine, the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the maple farm in Vermont, the rendezvous with friends, the blazingly...
Cook’s Lobster House
Any trip to Maine needs to include an incredible seaside meal of lobster. A friend in Florida gave us directions to Cook’s Lobster House on a spit of land on the north end of Bailey Island south of Brunswick overlooking Casco Bay. We headed there today for a midday...
General Delivery
It’s not unusual for people to ask us how we get our mail on the road. For someone doing a long trip once in a lifetime or once every few years, it may be okay to get a trusted friend or family member to help but if travel is a lifestyle, there are better options....
Chamberlain, the Man
Ever since the movie Gettysburg based on the novel Killer Angels, America has rediscovered Joshua Chamberlain. This college professor turned soldier is featured in the story of the Union victory in Pennsylvania in 1863. Count us among those who are fascinated with the...
Freeport: The Birthplace of Maine
With various visits with our neighbors yesterday morning it was afternoon by the time we headed north to the Freeport/Durham KOA where we settled in and dealt with the chore of laundry. Today we wandered into Freeport best known as the home of LL Bean. We found...
Clam Box & Hodgie’s Two
On our way back to Black Bear Campground we decided to indulge ourselves in a classic New England meal. In Ipswich we stopped at The Clam Box, a local institution, and ordered a Native Clams meal. While we waited to pick up our food at the counter a dining room table...

Over the last several years we’ve had the distinct pleasure of many cross country journeys traveling though the Lower 48 in tents and our various teardrop campers as well as an amazing Alaska adventure that did not involve a camper.

Bletchley Park
It was at Bletchley Park that the Allied Codebreakers deciphered German military messages during the Second World War. A free guided tour gave us a good overview of the campus and the activities that occurred here from 1938 to 1945.
Fenton House and Spaniards Inn
A lovely way to spend a Sunday in Hampstead. We visited the historic Fenton House to view lots of lovely collectibles, to listen to and learn about harpsicords, and to tour and linger in the garden before heading off to the historic Spaniard’s Inn for a most delectable Sunday Roast.
London Transport Museum
A visit to the London Transport Museum in Covent Garden gave us insight into the evolution and role of public transportation in the creation of London as a great metropolitan area.
