It's one of those times we just need to be alone with our thoughts. Geneva State Park is serving us well in that regard. It's mid-week and there are few fellow campers. The sites are spacious and nicely wooded. We've done the laundry, finally sifted through the mail...

Murals New and Old
East Fork State Park outside of Cincinnati was a great home for us for four nights. Close enough to meet up with some cousins, near a restaurant we love because they serve some great goetta, but quiet and peaceful. It's been quite a while since we stayed at this park...
The Wheeling Suspension Bridge
Out of Sugarcreek we traveled east on OH-39 then south on I-77 to the US-40 exit with plans to travel the approximate route of the National Road. At one point we turned off US-40 when we saw a Historic Route 40 sign. At that point but for GPS we were lost. Later we...
Goodbye 20B
It's been a glorious eight night stay here at Winklepleck. From the time we arrived until last night we, and all the T@B-400 owners were giving tours multiple times a day every day. It was a blast! And we made some wonderful new friends. That said, we are looking...
The Leftovers Party
Today was the great exodus from Winklepleck Grove. üCamp17 officially ended last evening. This morning we enjoyed the gracious hospitality of Amanda who served an amazing breakfast of Scalloped Nova Scotia Potatoes out of her clamshell kitchen. But that wonderful and...
üCamp17 Friday Night
The last official event of this first gathering of teardrops and truck campers sponsored by nüCamp RV was the Potluck Dinner. Wow! Amazing goodies to share paired with delicious grilled burgers and dogs provided by nüCamp. And awards for the Best Owner Mods to Marty...
Amish Dinner & Entertainment
NüCamp outdid themselves again this evening with a home cooked Amish dinner and John Schmid, an outstanding singer/entertainer. And so many of the folks from nüCamp came out to be a part of the festivities! The sense of community here is absolutely amazing!
Butterscotch Pudding
Sarah invited us to visit behind the scenes at Dutch Creek Foods this morning to watch the process of preparing bulk foods from scratch. DCF is the central kitchen for several of the restaurants here in Ohio’s Amish country. Today’s project was Butterscotch...
nüCamp Then and Now
This evening all üCamp17 participants were invited to the factory where Joe Mullet treated us to a history of Pleasant Valley Trailers. Joe's journey from not even knowing what a teardrop trailer was to being the leader in the field over the course of fifteen years is...
Breakfast by Ina
Since the earliest days of Pleasant Valley trailers the employees have gathered for a monthly breakfast prepared by Ina Mullet. These days she uses forty-two dozen eggs for the breakfast casserole she makes. This morning she served breakfast for all of us. An amazing...

Over the last several years we’ve had the distinct pleasure of many cross country journeys traveling though the Lower 48 in tents and our various teardrop campers as well as an amazing Alaska adventure that did not involve a camper.

Wicked The Musical
Ever since its debut on Broadway the two of us have wanted to see “Wicked the Musical”. Today we realized that dream. In the Apollo Victoria Theater in London’s West End we were witness to the incredible prequel to The Wizard of Oz, the story of the Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.
Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens
London’s National Portrait Gallery’s temporary exhibition, “Six Lives: The Stories of Henry VIII’s Queens” presents an amazing collection of portraits, jewelry, personal effects, books, costumes, and more to illustrate not only the lives of the six women who married the second Tudor king, but the effort across five centuries to keep their memory alive.
Caligula at Strawberry Hill
The purpose of our trek to Strawberry Hill House in Twickenham in the southwest of London was to see a recently recovered bronze bust of the Emperor Caligula but we discovered so much more in the recently restored 18th Century “little Gothic castle” built by Horace Walpole.
